Tips on Choosing Eyeglasses Frames by Face Shape

PICKING GLASSES BY FACE SHAPE - DIFFERENT FACE SHAPES AND GLASSES

Pick The Best Glasses for Your Face Shape

First of all you must figure out what shape you face is. To do that simple take a look in the mirror.
Ask yourself 3 questions:
  1.  What is the widest part of your face? Your forehead? Your cheeks (cheekbone)? Jaw?
  2.  What is the shape of your jaw?  Rounded?  Square?  Pointed?
Then

    3. Do you have a long face or a shorter one?

If You Have a Heart-Shaped or Triangular Face (You likely have a shorter face)

    Heart shape - glasses

A heart-shaped or triangular faces usually have a wide forehead, narrower jaw line, high cheekbones and a narrow chin.
Look for frames that will add width to the chin area.

Tips

  • Wayfarer or cat-eye styles are great for balancing a triangular shaped face
  • Round frames in lighter colors soften a wide forehead
  • Frames that are wider at the bottom than the top help offset the narrow chin
  • Avoid frames that are decorative at the top or that are wider at the top than the bottom

Round shaped faces should select angular frames to help  sharpen and add definition.

Tips

  • Angular  frames with rectangular or geometric shapes create balance and definition
  • Rectangular frame styles create a slimmer looking round face
  • The smaller the height of the frame the more thinner the  round face tends to look
  • Glasses with high or mid-height temples help lengthen a  round face

  • Cat-eye frames also add curves and contour square faces
  • The soft curves of oval frames help minimize angles and  lengthen a square face
